Don't ForgetScholarships come from involvement in extra activities, holding leadership positions, strong GPA's, meeting certain community based requirements, and other merit based activities held by a student during their high school career.
College entrance is based on SAT/ACT scores, GPA's, and meeting minimum diploma requirements. Did you know that nearly 10,000 students were accepted to enter the University of Georgia this year. Where only a little over 5000 actually enrolled, the numbers of students that UGA accepted is tremendous. Just for the information on UGA's admission requirements please follow: http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=975 Resume's are important for college entrance and scholarships. Band is a great way to boost that resume- especially if you work hard to achieve leadership positions and make All State and other Honor Bands. You do NOT have to major in music to receive a music scholarship. College's recruit people of all majors through the issuing of music scholarships. Last year alone, the seniors graduating from Marietta High School out of the band earned around a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships just for their music! Files
